RUSSELL COUNTY

Barnwood shoots are famously muddy, and rainy, and difficult to navigate. But this week’s episode was possibly the most difficult logistical shoot I’ve directed. There were three cabins on one farm spread out across a mountain ridge. It was next to impossible to get the cameras where we needed them ahead of the guys as they moved from cabin to cabin. We had to rely on ATVs to move the equipment. I spent much of the second day shuttling cameras and crew back and forth across an ATV trail trying to figure out where Mark and Johnny were going to work next. At one point, the ATV trail was completely blocked by a group of very dangerous looking cows who clearly relished the idea that I thought they looked dangerous. Thankfully, our Director of Photography, Travis Tipps, is an expert drone operator. He managed to capture key elements of the story from the air that we never could have gotten from the ground.
